Leeds United: New Investment Or Desperate Exit Strategy?

Well it could be great news, or it could be terrible news, but it looks as if GFH Capital are looking to offload some or all of their controlling stake in Leeds United.

This could be the perfect poke in the eye for Master Bates, of course. Just imagine if the Arabs shifted the club on at a considerable profit so soon after prising it from the bearded miser's miserable clutches! Leeds fans would love that, just love it! The trouble is, Bates is a wily old bugger so, unlike West Ham with Rio, will have almost certainly inserted a sell on clause.

Of course, GFH Capital may have been the middle men for a mystery Middle Eastern buyer, somebody hiding behind the seven veils of the hard up bank before dancing in a couple of months later to reveal all. This might be the oil billionaire the Leeds fans originally dreamed of! Who knows, Leeds may be bidding for Ronaldo and Messi before we know it!

Alternatively, GFH Capital might have over stretched themselves. This may be the first stage in a desperate exit strategy. They could be on their uppers for all we know. And if they have to sell at a loss, heaven only knows who might step in to buy the club at a knock down price? Ken Bates anybody?

  2. Some of their controlling stake? I thought if they own more than 50% they would still be in control.right now they own 100% right?they always made it clear they were looking for investors didnt they? Boring article

  7. Not really if they 'did not accept'. Also, it seems you have lost faith in your manager.

  8. haha - pogatetz or mccartney? ahh the luxuries of over paid left backs... if only warnock had chosen west ham instead of Leeds.

West Ham were truely awful yesterday losing against another truely awful side. Not only that, how tragic was it to see big sam try and claim they deserved all 3 points at the end!! Please tell me he's taken a bung for signing pogatetz, must be the only reason for this?

  11. I think you are right and GFH are losing their nerve, either way it is all very strange. GFH posted a friendly message to fans on the official website where they seemed to be happy bunnies...who knows. This is Leeds so expect the unexpected.

Hey, good job your lads got the 3 points last week, or you would have been in the mire, precious 3 points that might turn out to be at the end of the season.

    Cheers

    1. Armchair! You want our views on the west ham debacle yesterday? Put up a post about Leeds then. Hey,what a good result for the Villa though. They've been languishing near the bottom for a while now, then along come west ham. They beat west ham without Warnock too. Really though, due to your disgraceful attendance record at upton park, you aren't qualified to voice an opinion on west ham and you're even less qualified to talk about Leeds United.

  14. Predictable process where investors are only trying to make money. Now they will sell 51% and use some of that money to invest in the club and then we go up sell the 49% to make a killing. All so predictable. They are not interested in football.

  17. How is Fat Sam doing? Why not take Warnock off of our hands and continue with the "hoofball". You need a quality manager to keep you from going down(Leeds link). MOT

  18. West Ham co-chairman David Gold says the club will not talk to manager Sam Allardyce about a new contract until their Premier League future is secured.

Allardyce's current deal expires at the end of the season.

West Ham are 11th in the Premier League with 30 points, but have only won one of their last six league games.

"We will sit down and discuss Sam's contract situation once our Premier League status has been confirmed and not before," Gold said in a statement.

HAHA! take a look at your own club before running your mouth off at others!
